초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the development patterns and characteristics of archery in Korea and China, and to explore their historical interactions from a perspective of bilateral cultural exchange. In Korea and China, active culture takes on the characteristics of war training, recruitment, ceremonies, Jecheon activities, and games. In addition, both Korea and China have implemented the program as free-for-all, and China has designated it as a major government policy to train knights during spring and autumn. As mentioned above, archery culture originated in various countries and developed with special characteristics due to environmental factors, which can be seen through the production and utilization of archery in each country. In particular, the Korean Peninsula is characterized by its unique form of active culture through cultural exchanges with China. Through this study, it is confirmed that Korea and China have maintained continuous military and cultural exchanges through archery and bow technology since ancient times. The development of composite bows, influenced by interactions with northern nomadic tribes, resulted in similar technical characteristics in both countries. Additionally, the exchange of bow-making techniques and archery skills between Goryeo and the Song and Yuan dynasties, as well as between Joseon and the Ming dynasty, contributed to advancements in military systems and cultural traditions. These exchanges extended beyond mere weapon technology to influence cultural values and spiritual practices.
