Although there have been high concerns over a China-Korea FTA since 2005, a few studies on the FTA are available. This paper tries to estimate the economic effects of a China-Korea FTA using a computational general equilibrium model (CGE) with scale economies and capital accumulation. The paper demonstrates that both countries would collect substantial economic gains from the FTA. However, the estimates of economic effects provided in this study should be interpreted with reservations, since the estimates do not consider industrial restructuring costs related with trade liberalization, and the simulations are done based on the tariff rates in the Global Trade Application Project (GTAP) database.
