한국-EU FTA에 따른 한국의 EU시장 경쟁력과 동학적 비교우위 분석

본 연구는 2003년부터 2011년까지 9개년의 SITC 3단위 기준의 품목 분류에 따라 공산품에 해당하는 SITC 한 단위 코드번호 5, 6, 7, 8 에 해당하는 품목자료를 사용하여,우리나라 교역품목의 EU시장에서의 대칭적 산업내무역지수와 비교우위지수를 구하여 분석한 다음, 더 나아가 한-EU간 산업내무역지수와 비교우위지수의 안정성 및 그 변동성을분석하기 위하여 변동효과와 회귀효과를 추정하여 실증분석하였다. 우리나라의 제품들은 대 EU시장에 있어 산업내 품목별로 비교우위지수와 산업내무역지수가 다르게 나타났고 산업부문별로 많이 혼재되어 나타났으나, 기계 및 운수장비부문들은 공작기계와 통신기기 및 자동차관련제품들에서 비교우위가 높은 품목들이 많이 나타났는데, 특히 2011 한-EU FTA 발효와 맞물려 2011년의 승용자동차 및 기타의 차량과 선 박, 보트 및 부유구조물 등이 EU시장에서가장 높은 비교우위를 보이고 있다. 우리나라 수출제품의 EU시장에 있어서 비교우위의 변동성을 추정한 결과, 2003년부터2008년까지는 변동효과보다 회귀효과가 더 강하므로 품목별 비교우위의 정도가 점점 감소하였지만, 2009년 이후에는 상반되게 나타나 비교우위패턴이 약간 변동되어 나타났다. 비교우위지수의 분산의 변동성 계수 역시 2003년부터 2008년까지는 비교우위지수의 분포의 이산성이 감소하여 품목 간에 비교우위 정도가 수렴되어 갔지만 그 후 발산되는 경향이 나타났다. 우리나라의 대 EU시장에 있어서 산업내무역패턴의 변화를 분석한 결과, 2003년-2007년에는 변동효과보다 회귀효과가 대체로 조금 큰 것으로 나타나 산업내무역정도가 감소되었지만, 그 후 2008년부터 2010년 동안에는 교역품들의 산업내무역정도가 약간 증가하는경향이 나타나 대조를 이루고 있다. 그리고 EU시장에서 우리나라 제품들의 비교우위는 한국과 EU간의 산업내무역을 증가시키고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
Korea-EU FTA came into force in July, 2011. Associated with Korea-EU FTA,this paper investigates the structure and variation of international trade between the EU and Korea using the recent 2003-2011 statistical data on SITC Code 5, 6,7 and 8. The specific product-basis trade structure tests such as intra-industry trade indices and comparative advantage indices show that Korea and the EU have the mixed high and low levels of intra-industry trade and mixed comparative advantageous and disadvantageous items according to the SITC code and even within the same SITC codes. Korea has the high comparative advantages in most products of machinery and transport related products such as the automobiles and ships. The intra-industry trade index and comparative advantage index appear to have overall stability and convergence properties using symmetric intra-industry trade indices. As a result of variation estimation tests of comparative advantage index,while the regression effect is somewhat larger than mobility effect in comparative advantage index during 2003-2008, the regression effect is lower than mobility effect in comparative advantage index after 2009. According to variation estimation tests of intra-industry trade index, while the regression effect is somewhat larger than mobility effect during 2003-2007, the regression effect is lower than mobility effect in comparative advantage index during 2008-2010. Finally, an increase in the market comparative advantage seems to influence the trade structure and induce an increase in intra-industry trade index between Korea and the EU.
