도예공방 문화예술교육 현황 분석 -교육 프로그램의 개발을 목적으로-

이 연구의 목적은 도예공방 문화예술교육의 현황을 조사 분석해 문제점을 파악하고 개선 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 도예공방 문화예술교육은 공예 분야에서 가장 활발하게 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있지만 아직 연구가 부족한 탓에 자세한 현황을 알 수 없다. 따라서 도예공방 문화예술교육 현황 조사를 위해 서울시 도예공방 조사, 공방 도예가 심층 인터뷰, 문화예술교육 참여 학습자 설문조사, 핸드빌딩 교육 프로그램 현황 조사를 시행했다. 조사 결과 문화예술교육에 참여하는 공방 도예가는 경제적 목표를 위해 문화예술교육에 참여하고 실제로 큰 도움을 받고 있었다. 또한 문화예술교육자로서 성취와 보람이 교육을 지속하는 이유였다. 문화예술교육에 참여하는 학습자는 단순 여가 활동을 위한 참여자부터 전문적 목표를 가진 참여자까지 다양한 목적을 가지고 문화예술교육을 학습하고 있었다. 그러나 현재 문화예술교육은 성형 중심의 물레성형과 핸드빌딩 기법에 편중되어 있고 세부 교육과정 역시 기초 전공과정을 답습하거나 유행하는 교육 프로그램을 모방해 운영하는 경우가 많았다. 특히 다양한 프로그램 개발이 가능한 핸드빌딩 교육에서 학습자 요구에 부응하는 프로그램을 제공하지 못하고 있어, 다층적 프로그램 개발의 필요성이 드러났다. 이러한 문제의 근본 원인은 많은 공방의 도예가가 교육자로서 전문성이 부족하고 공방 운영에 많은 시간을 할애하고 있어서 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 여건이 마련되지 않기 때문이다. 그러나 문화예술교육을 통해 도예에 대한 관심과 이해가 높아지고, 도예 분야를 넘어 공예문화 확산에 기여하기에 다양한 교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 연구가 필요하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the current status of Arts and Culture Education at ceramic studios to identify problems and suggest directions for improvement. While ceramic studios run the most active educational programs within the field of craft, the lack of research makes it difficult to fully understand the detailed status of this topic. To address this, a survey of Ceramic studios in Seoul, in-depth interviews with potters, a survey of participants in Arts and Culture Education, and a survey of the status of hand-building education programs were conducted. The result of the survey showed that studio potters participating in the Arts and Culture Education were doing so for financial reasons and were receiving significant benefits. Additionally, the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment as an arts and culture educator were motivating factors for continuing to educate. Participants in Arts and Culture Education varied, ranging from those engaging in leisure activities to those with professional goals, were learning for various reasons within the arts and culture education. However, the current Arts and Culture Education system is heavily focused on wheel-throwing and hand-building, and the detailed curriculum often follows basic major courses offered in universities or imitates popular education programs. In particular, hand-building education, which has the potential to develop a variety of educational programs, is unable to meet the needs of learners, revealing the need for diverse educational programs. The fundamental cause for these issues is that potters lack expertise as educators and devote a significant amount of time to operating their studios, leaving little to no room for the development of educational programs. However, interest in and understanding of ceramics have increased through the Arts and Culture Education, contributing to the spread of craft culture beyond the field of ceramics. Therefore, further research to develop diverse educational programs is necessary.
