본 연구의 목적은 한국적 비례체계를 통해 문화유산의 조형 특성을 분석함으로써 그 과정에서 형태적 특징과 함께 발견되는 비례를 확인하여, 연구를 진행하는 문화유산의 조형적인 특성을 도출함으로써 문화유산을 분석하는 새로운 관점을 구축해 한국의 문화적 고유성에 입각한 헤리티지(Heritage)를 발굴하는 것이다. 한국적 비례체계를 통해 문화유산을 분석할 때, 실증적인 연구의 결과를 위해서 유물에 반영된 시대적 특징과 철학적 배경을 이해하지 못한다면 형태를 이해하는 과정에서 현대인의 관점이 우선 반영되어 왜곡이 일어날 것이라고 전제하였으며, 이를 보완하기 위해 유물이 제작된 시대의 철학적 배경에 대한 문헌 고찰을 선제적으로 진행하였다. 이어서 문화유산을 3가지 기준을 통해 선정하였으며 그 기준은 다음과 같다. 우선, 문화유산의 목적성과 그 기능성이 직관적으로 뚜렷한 조형물이어야 하고, 더불어 다른 나라의 유물과 기능적으로는 유사하더라도 한국의 고유한 형태로 발전한 조형물이어야 할 것, 마지막으로는 미적인 관점으로 보았을 때 그 심미성과 균형성이 두드러지며 디자인적 가치가 높은 문화유산이 연구되어야 할 것을 기준으로 삼았다. 이에 따라 기능적, 형태 미학적, 고유한 독창적인 조형을 가진 ‘앙부일구’를 연구 대상으로 선정하였으며 정확한 조형과 비례의 측정을 위해 조형 비례를 측정할 수 있는 비례체계 분석 도구를 통해 3차원 스캐너로 계측된 유물의 입체 데이터를 90° 측면, 45° 측면, 90° 상면에서 바라보고 분석하였다. 그 결과 3차원 입체 데이터에 기준으로 비례를 측정함으로써 조형의 외형의 가로세로비를 정밀하게 계측할 수 있었고, 앙부일구에서는 √4 비례가 5곳, 서양의 비례체계인 황금비례가 3곳에서 발견되었으며 동양의 비례체계인 금강비례는 1곳에서 나타났음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 같은 분석 방법은 유물을 그 기능과 기술적인 관점에서 분석하는 방식과는 달리 미적인 관점을 통해 과거 선조들이 가지고 있던 미의식과 형태 조형 방식을 분석함으로써 문화유산에 대한 미학적 이해도를 높이고, 다양한 관점으로 유물을 분석하는 체계를 다지는 시도를 한 것이다. 향후 각각의 시점을 연결하여 3차원적인 시점분석을 진행하고, 다른 시대와 문화권의 유물들과 비교 분석함으로써 보다 복합적이고 폭넓은 문화유산의 조형적 특성과 비례체계를 밝혀 나갈 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the formative characteristics of cultural heritage using the Korean proportional system, identifying proportional relationships and morphological features to establish a new perspective for heritage analysis and uncover Korea’s cultural uniqueness. Recognizing the risk of distortion from modern perspectives, a literature review was conducted to understand the philosophical and historical context of the artifacts. Cultural heritage was selected based on three criteria: clear functionality, uniquely Korean forms, and significant aesthetic and design value. The Hemispherical Sundial, noted for its functional and aesthetic originality, was chosen as the subject of analysis. Using 3D-scanned data and proportional system tools, the artifact was analyzed from 90° side, 45° side, and 90° top perspectives. The results identified √4 proportions in five locations, the golden ratio in three, and the Geumgang proportional system in one. This approach, focusing on aesthetics rather than purely functional perspectives, offers insights into the design principles and sense of beauty of Korea’s ancestors. Future research aims to integrate three-dimensional perspectives and compare artifacts from different eras and cultures to uncover broader proportional systems and cultural significance.
