초록
The phenomena of meaning extension from temperature term to emotion domain in Korean and Chinese was discussed from cognitive linguistic perspective. Furthermore, how the term user make interact with context through body and mind, and the way of conceptualizing cognition and thinking was revealed as followed: Firstly, both Chinese and Korean use temperature domain term to help understanding emotion domain. Difference is that Korean temperature term is more detailed divided. For example, there are two temperature term systems to express air temperature and physical temperature respectively in Korean, while in Chinese they are expressed in one, so that the term used for understanding emotion domain is different. Secondly, though there is mapping from temperature domain to emotion domain both in Korean and Chinese, the concrete emotion domain is different. For example, “angry” can be conceptualized from “hot” in both the two languages, but different is that in Korean, it can also be conceptualized from “cold”. Finally, the result showed that the linguistic form and meaning is motivated, and emotional expressions are the combination of body and culture.
