The purpose of this study is to raise several problems about the double object constructions in Korean and to figure out ways to correct problems. Most Korean linguists regarded ‘eul/reul’ as the objective case ending and they considered the sentence which included more than one ‘eul/reul’ as the double object constructions. So we are faced with a difficult question about the distinction between the transitive verb and the intransitive verb. So far, there was no syntactic criterion for the distinction between the transitive and the intransitive, and there was a confusion about the distinction between them. In this paper, I make a suggestion about the syntactic criterion for the distinction between the transitive and the intransitive. ‘-eo iss-’ in modern Korean can be attached to some intransitive verb, but it can never be attached to transitive verb. Then we can believe firmly that the predicate which can be attached ‘-eo iss-’ is the intransitive verb. Therefore ‘gada’ is the intransitive verb because ‘-eo iss-’ can be attached to it. I examine several types of the double object constructions in the same way. But there is no ‘double object constructions’ in Korean, because only one ‘eul/reul’ of the double object constructions is a real objective case ending, and the other ‘eul/reul’ is an auxiliary postposition.
