A Study on <Thousand-Nyang-Divination> Tale for the Significance and Direction of Folktale Education- Focus on the Classification and the Textual, Folkloric and Present Meanings

This paper shows the meanings of the nationalwide <Thousand-Nyang -Divination> Tale of 85 versions. I classified this tale into 7 types and the relationship of these types. And I explored 3 aspects’ meanings of this tale, namely textual, traditional, and present meanings. Though this tale has transmitted by ordinary people, but the meanings of this tale are not simple. This tale deliver the messages of our lives. These are as follows. First, The best wisdom is to respect others’ lives important as my own life, and this is the way to solve my life’s problems. Second, life is not simple, it has the other side’ truth, so we should know there are the irony and paradox. Through this article, I tried to find the present value of narrative literature. It has not the rhetorical devices, but it has the wisdom penetrates the time and space. So it needs to find the position of narrative tales in our literature education.
