본 논문의 목적은 이스라엘-하마스/헤즈볼라 전쟁을 마이클 하워드의 전략의 4차원을 기준으로 분석하여 한반도 군사작전에 주는 시사점을 제시하는 데 있다. 하마스는 2023년 10월 7일 이스라엘 기습공격에 성공했으나 전쟁의 문턱을 넘어서는 전략적 실수를 하였다. 2025년 1월 19일 휴전합의가 발효되기 까지 1년 3개월 동안 이스라엘과 하마스/헤즈볼라의 전략을 비교해 보면, 작전적 차원에서는 정규작전과 게릴라전의 대립이었으며, 군수적 차원에서는 최첨단 군사력과 비대칭전력의 대결이었다. 사회적 차원에서 양측 모두 불굴의 항전의지에 의한 충돌이었으며, 기술적 차원에서는 첨단 무기체계와 구식무기의 대결이었다. 전쟁결과, 하마스/헤즈볼라는 엄청난 인명피해를 입었고, 가자지구는 모두 폐허가 되었다. 이스라엘-하마스/헤즈볼라 전쟁이 한반도 군사작전에 주는 시사점은 북한의 기습공격 대비 및 확전위기 관리, 북한의 장사정포 위협에 대응, 시가지전 및 지하터널작전 수행능력 강화, 전쟁지속 역량 강화, 전시 리더십과 무형전력 극대화, AI기반 첨단 무기체계 및 비대칭전력 확보 등이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the Israel-Hamas/Hezbollah war based on Michael Howard's Four-Dimensional Strategy to find implications for military operations on the Korean Peninsula. Hamas succeeded in a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, but made a strategic mistake that crossed the threshold of war. Comparing the strategies of Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah for a year and three months until the ceasefire agreement took effect on January 19, 2025, it was a confrontation between regular operations and guerrilla warfare at the operational level, and a confrontation between high-tech military forces and asymmetric forces at the logistical level. At the social level, both sides were in conflict with indomitable will to fight, and at the technological level, it was a confrontation between the world's best advanced weapon systems and outdated weapons. As a result of the war, Hamas/Hezbollah suffered tremendous casualties, and Gaza Strip was in ruins.
