문학 상상력의 범주는 문학과 문학 교육의 영역 안에서 다양한 연구를통해 중요성을 인정받았다. 문학과 상상력의 관계를 밝히거나 학습자가 텍스트를 접하며 발휘하는 상상력에 대한 접근 등이 기존 연구의 방향들이다. 선행연구들은 상상력을 유형화하며 대략 인식적- 재현적 상상력, 조응적- 조작적 상상력, 초월적-창조적 상상력으로 범주화하였다. 본고에서는 이 상상력의 유형을 다시 텍스트의 ‘갈래’를 기준으로 살펴, 교수·학습의 수행에서 중요하게 강조해야 하는 상상력이 갈래에 따라 다를 수 있음을 확인하고자 하였다. 고전 시가는 역사와 시대의 변화로 인해 해석이나 즐거움을 위한 향유에어려움이 따르므로 갈래에 대한 문학사적 이해와 당대 상황에 대한 이해가선행되어야 한다. 따라서 학습자가 고유의 의미를 온전히 향유케 하기 위해서 인식적이고 재현적인 상상력의 활성화가 우선 고려해야 할 것이다. 고전 산문에서는 유기적으로 얽힌 이야기의 흐름을 학습 수행 과정에서 파악할 수 있으므로, 이미지의 재현보다 텍스트의 해석과 확장에 이르는 조응적이고 조작적인 상상력의 중요성이 더욱 커 보인다. 본고에서는 작품의 수용이 결국 학습자가 스스로 끌어내는 것이므로 작품을 구체화하는 데 일정한 의미를 주는 정도로 상상력을 적용하고 그 작용 차이를 견지할 수 있도록 환기하고 있다. 상상력의 층위가 수준의 차이를 말하는 것은 아니므로 학습자에게 부족한 부분을 확인하고 채워주려는교수·학습 측면에서의 접근이 필요함을 제안한다.
Abstract
The importance of the literary imagination category has been recognized by various studies, in the fields of literature and literary education. Such studies have had directions for elucidating the relationship between literature and imagination or for approaching the imagination that readers exercise as they are exposed to texts. The researchers roughly categorized imagination into the imagination of awareness-reproduction, the imagination of world ordering-operating and the imagination of transcending-world making, by stereotyping it. This paper attempted to verify that each imagination to be importantly stressed when learners are exposed to texts is varied, by investigating the types of it based on the 'genres' of texts. Since it is difficult to interpret or enjoy classical poems for pleasure because of changes in history or times, the literary historical understanding of genres and the understanding of the contemporary circumstances should be achieved in advance. It is, therefore, necessary to initially consider the activation of the imagination of awareness and reproduction, for learners to soundly enjoy the inherent meaning of literature. Since the flows of organically woven stories can be grasped from classical proses, the imagination of world making and operating leading to the interpretation and extension of texts seems to be more important than the reproduction of images, for them. This paper applies the imagination so as to provide some meanings to the embodiment of works and encouraged learners to perceive difference in how the imagination works, as the acceptance of works is spontaneously induced by learners. The layers of imagination do not refer to the difference in levels, so it is suggested that teaching/learning approach is required to check up on and complement inadequate skills in learners.
