본 글은 자본주의 다양성론의 유형모델을 대표하는 유럽 국가들이 추구한 경제성장 전략을 분석하는데 목적을 둔다. 그에 따라 본 글은 조정시장경제에 속한 국가들은 전략적으로 순 수출 증가를 겨냥한 수출주도 성장전략을 추구하였고, 자유시장경제와 혼합시장경제에 속한 국가들은 내수중심의 신용주도 성장전략을 추진하였음을 제시한다. 그럼으로써 본 글은 포디즘 이후 신자유주의 시기에 자본 친화적인 이윤주도성장이라는 동일한 목표에도 불구하고 생산을 뒷받침한 제도적 조정능력의 유무/강약에 의해 그 성장 경로가 다르게 결정되었던 것으로 주장한다.
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze economic growth strategies, focusing in particular on the institutional foundations of the European national varieties of capitalism. Applying the basic arguments featured in the Varieties of Capitalism literature, the paper shows that export-led strategies, which dominate northern coordinated market economies, and domestic consumption-prone, credit-led strategies, which predominate in the liberal market economies like UK and mixed market economies of southern Europe. In conclusion, this paper argues as follows: Their own diverse growth paths in the era of neoliberalism after Fordism were determined by existence/nonexistence or strength/weakness of institutional capability of coordination to back up production, despite common goal towards pro-capital and profit-led economic growth.
