초록

Europe is attempting to integrate into the political field, which is the most difficult in terms of cooperation. Especially, the efforts of security integration have also continued from the past. Given the fact that the beginning of the European Union, along with economic integration, is almost 70 years ago, the history of political integration and security integration is not very effective. Nevertheless, the degree of security integration can be seen as fast. Recently, there are voices in the EU saying that it should build its own security as well because Donald Trump, the President of the United States, recently remarked that European countries are getting a free ride from NATO and NATO member states should pay more NATO defense costs. Moreover, in 2017, President Donald Trump did not mention the obligation to comply with Article 5 of the collective defense provisions of the NATO Constitution. Meanwhile, with the recent issue of Britain's withdrawal from the EU, Brexit, the security issues of Europe are also becoming more important. Britain plays a major role in European security, so their leaving is a problem. The point is now how the withdrawal of Britain, which is typical Atlanticism, will affect Europe's own independent security identity. In addition, Most of the CEECs were former Soviet Union satellite countries and were guaranteed security through NATO after the collapse of the socialist system. For this reason, most of the CEECs still regard NATO as important for their own security. EU security will continue to cooperate with NATO as it has in the past. However, with these recent issues, the transition to a Westphalia system in the U.S., Brexit, and the Atlanticism of the CEECs, there is the possibility that EU security will transition to Europeanism. It is also important to cooperate with the 3rd party countries for establishing Europe's own security. This can have a positive impact on the relationship between the EU and NATO.
