중세국어의 특이 관형사절 구성에 대한 일고찰

본고는 중세국어의 특이 관형사절에 대한 몇몇 논의들을 살펴보고, 이 절의통사 · 의미적 특징을 밝히기 위해 살펴야 할 문제들에 대해 검토하였다. 중세국어의 특이 관형사절은 관형사절 내에 핵어 명사와 동일지시적인 명사구가 포함되어 있다는 점에서 주목 받아왔다. 중세국어의 특이 관형사절이 현대국어의 내핵관계절이나 보어절과 같은 통사적 특징을 지닌다고 추정되기도 하였으나, 이러한 가정은 면밀하게 검토되어야 할 점이 없지 않다. 또한 특이 관형사절로 알려진 예들 중에는 특이 관형사절이 아닌 예들도 포함되어 있다. 중세국어의 특이 관형사절은 동명사어미 ‘–ㄴ, -ㄹ’의 역사적 발달 과정, 고전 중국어의 ‘者’ 구성의 번역, 격조사의 통시적 발달 과정과 관련하여 검토함으로써 그 통사 · 의미적 특징이 좀 더 분명하게 밝혀질 것이다.
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to review some assumptions on the non-canonical adnominal clause in Middle Korean, and to present research issues for investigating the syntactic-semantic characteristics of this clause. The non-canonical adnominal clause in Middle Korean is different from other adnominal clauses in Middle Korean, because it include NP co-referential to head noun. The discussion of this paper is summarized as follows. First, there are there are some issues to investigate more strictly about the assumption that this clause is the origin of internally headed relatives or complement clauses of NP in Contemporary Korean. Secondly, among the examples in Middle Korean known as the non-canonical adnominal clause, there are examples that have different syntactic-semantic characteristics from the non-canonical adnominal clause. Lastly, the non-canonical adnominal clause need to be investigated in relation of the following issues: (i) the diachronical change of nominalizer like –n, -l (ii) the translation of zhe constructions in Classical Chinese (iii) the diachronical development of case marker in Korean.
