이 연구는 외국인 유학생 대상 AI 리터러시 교육의 필요성을 탐구하며, 생성형 AI 활용 실태와 인식의 경향성을 조사하는 데에 목적이 있다. 조사 결과에따르면, 외국인 유학생들은 인공지능이 미디어, 교육, 고용, 교통 분야에 중요한영향을 미칠 것으로 예상하며, 주로 Chat GPT를 활용하고, 학업 및 한국어 학습을 위한 정보 검색과 번역 목적으로 AI를 사용하는 경우가 많았다. 또한 생성형 AI 활용 및 교육 경험이 부족하며, 정보의 오류와 편향성 확인 및 윤리 문제, 활용 방법과 작동 원리 이해에 대한 교육 요구가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 디지털 언어 시대의 발전과 함께 생성형 AI는 외국어 학습에서 번역, 대화형 시뮬레이션 등을 통해 효율적으로 기여할 가능성이 있다. 이 연구는 외국인 유학생의 미디어 리터러시와 AI 사용 경향성을 조사한 사례연구로서 향후 외국인유학생 대상 교육에서 AI 관련 내용 및 방법을 도입하고자 할 때 참조할 기초자료로서의 의미와 가치를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study examines the necessity of AI literacy education for international students by analyzing their generative AI usage and perceptions, offering insights for advancing educational programs in Korea. The findings reveal that international students expect AI to impact fields such as media, education, employment, and transportation. They primarily utilize ChatGPT for academic tasks and Korean language learning, focusing on practical activities such as information retrieval and translation. However, their experiences with AI literacy remain limited, indicating a need for education on error and bias identification, ethical considerations, application methods, and operational principles. As the digital language era progresses, AI significantly enhances foreign language learning through tools such as translation and conversational simulations, thereby fostering creativity and adaptability. In Korean language education, approaches that emphasize active engagement and innovation are necessary. This study provides foundational data to support tailored educational strategies, enriching both the academic and professional competencies of international students and contributing to future advancements in Korean language education.
