Abstract

· Research topics: Understanding how Goryeo perceived the Northern Territory and its efforts to occupy the Boju amid changes in international relations · Research background: This study focused on international relations at the time in order to understand the context in which Goryeo was able to secure the Boju area, which was judged to be an important area in the north. In the phase of the transfer of hegemony, Goryeo accurately judged the situation and was able to occupy the Boju with appropriate foreign policy. · Differences from prior research: Since the historical subject was viewed from the perspective of international relations, the north policy of Goryeo was comprehensively discussed. In particular, it was reviewed from various angles that Goryeo promoted foreign policy based on a diplomatic sense around the Boju area and properly carried out military action. · Research method: <Goryeosa(高麗史)> and <Goryeosa Jeolyo(高麗史節要)>, which are historical materials including the history of the time, were used. In addition, prior studies on related topics were referenced in various ways. · Research results: Goryeo promoted foreign policy by accurately judging the international order of the time. Meanwhile, the war was grasped as an extension of politics and military actions were carried out based on political judgment. As a result, Goryeo was able to secure Boju, an important military and economic position, during the power transfer process. · Contribution points and expected effects: It is possible to understand the international situation in the early Goryeo period and the implications of Goryeo's military foreign policy.
