This paper aims to make a comparative analysis between Korean and Chines imperfective aspect with particular reference to situation types theory. Previous studies on aspectual meanings of ‘-고 있-’ and ‘在’, ‘着’ have focused on the lexical meaning of verbs. But complements of a verb and adjuncts can also affect the aspectual meaning of verbs. This paper studies aspectual meanings of ‘-고 있-’ and ‘在’, ‘着’by focusing these non-verb constituents of sentences. By doing so,more differences between two languages can be shown. I hope the research results of this paper could give a favor for Chinese learners who learning Korean.
