초록
This research aims to explore the conceptualization of ecomusicology within the context of Korean musicians and musicologists engaged in ecomusic production and theory. Notably, the term “ecomusicology” was officially recognized in the Grove Music Dictionary in 2013, alongside related concepts such as “place,” “sound studies,” “soundscape,” and “musicology in the United States.” For this investigation, two focus group interviews were conducted, involving two musicians and two musicologists who have actively contributed to the field of music in relation to place. The data gathered from these interviews was subsequently analyzed using NVIVO, a quantitative research software. Based on the analysis, the findings indicate that the prevailing Korean conception of ecomusicology among specialists is characterized by a multi-layered understanding, encompassing aspects that revolve around artistic expression and personal introspection, as well as those that demonstrate ecocritical perspectives and social awareness.
