사단칠정론은 철학이론인가?

이 논문의 목표는 사단칠정론이 철학이론이 아님을 보이고, 철학이론이 되기 위해서 어떤 것이 필요한지를 제시하려는 것이다. 나는 이러한 주장을 위해 철학이론은 철학문제의 해결을 지향해야 하며, 이를 위해서는 경험사실을 그 토대로 삼아야 한다고 주장한다. 내가 생각하는 경험사실은 당대의 과학이 제공하는 정보는 물론이고, 수양을 통해 얻은 체험 및 정치, 사회제도이다. 리기론에 기반한 기존의 사단칠정론은 이러한 경험사실들의 기반이 없기에 적절한 철학이론이 될 수 없다. 따라서 앞서 제시한 세 가지 경험사실 중의 하나를 이용하여 새롭게 사단칠정론을 구성한다면 우리는 철학이론으로서의 사단칠정론을 가질 수 있게 될 것이다.
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show that the so-called theory of Four-Seven (四端七情論) is not a philosophical theory, and to present what is necessary to become a philosophical theory. I insist that philosophical theory should aim to solve the philosophical problem and for this, it should be based on the facts of experience. The facts of experience I think are not only the information provided by science of the time, but also the experiences gained through self-cultivation and political and social systems. The existing theory of Four Seven based on the theory of li-gi(理氣論) cannot be an appropriate philosophical theory because there is no basis for these experiences in it. Therefore, if we newly construct the theory of Four-Seven by using one of the three experiences presented above, we will be able to have the theory of Four-Seven as a philosophy theory.
