중･고령자의 기술활용도 영향요인:중년층과 고령층의 차이 비교를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 중･고령자의 기술활용도에 대한 영향요인을 인구사회학적 요인, 경제적 요인, 사회적 요인, 개인적 요인, 물질적 요인으로 구분하여 검증하였으며, 연령집단별 차이를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 만 55세 이상 중･고령자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였으며, 연령집단은 중년층(55~64세) 247명과 고령층(65세 이상) 253명을 대상으로 분류하였다. 이후 위계적 회귀분석(Hierarchical Analysis)을 실시하여 중･고령자의 기술활용도에 대한 영향요인을 검증하였다. 연구결과, 전체 중･고령층을 대상의 기술활용도 영향요인은 인구사회학적 요인에서는 연령이 사회적 요인에서는 사회활동, 개인적 요인에서는 교육수준, 자기효능감, 물직적 요인은 컴퓨터 접근성이 기술활용도와 통계적으로 유의미한 수준의 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연령집단별로 살펴본 결과 중년층의 경우 인구사회학적 요인을 제외한 경제적 요인(취업여부), 사회적 요인(사회활동), 개인적 요인(교육수준, 자기효능감), 물질적 요인(컴퓨터 보유)과 같이 전반적인 영역에 영향요인을 가지고 있는 반면, 고령층의 경우 개인적 요인(교육수준, 자기효능감)과 물질적 요인(컴퓨터 및 스마트폰 보유)의 영향요인만 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 중･고령자의 기술활용도 영향요인을 다차원적으로 살펴보았으며, 연령집단 별 상이한 양상을 보임으로 중･고령자의 기술관련 논의를 확장하였다는 의의를 가진다. 구체적으로 정보역량수준을 증진시키기 위해 중년층의 경우 경제적 요인, 사회적 요인, 개인적 요인, 물질적 요인을 전반적으로 고려한 통합 기술활용 증진 프로그램을 제공해야 하며, 고령층의 경우 컴퓨터 접근성 및 스마트폰 접근성 등의 물질적 차원을 높이는 단기성･일회성 프로그램에서 벗어나 자기효능감 프로그램과의 병행 운영 등 개인적 차원을 함께 높여야 한다.

Abstract

This study examined the factors influencing technology utilization in the middle and Older Adults by demographic, economic, social, personal, and material factors. Data was collected by conducting a questionnaire survey among middle-aged and Older Adults over 55 years old(total participants= 500), and for the analysis of age group was classified as Middle-Aged(55-64), Older Adults(65+). Multiple regression analyses were conducted to verify the factors influencing of technology utilization among the Middle and Older Adults. The results showed that factors influencing of technology utilization for Middle and Older Adults were significant in demographic factors(age), social factors(social activity), and physical factors(education, self-efficacy). In addition, by age group, middle-aged were significant in economic factors(employment status), social factors(social activity), personal factors(education, self-efficacy), and physical factors(computer access). On the other hand, the Older Adults were significant in personal factors (education, self-efficacy) and material factors(computer and smartphone access). This study has an academic significance in that factors influencing of technology utilization are multidimensionally verified, and the age groups showed different patterns. So, in order to promote the technology utilization, middle-aged people should provide an integrated technology utilization promotion program that considers economic factors, social factors, personal factors, and material factors. On the other hand, for Older Adults, need to provide a long-term program that improves personal dimension such as a self-efficacy program, along with short-term programs that increases the material dimension of computer and smartphone accessibility.
