이 글에서는 먼저 오늘날 일상이 되어가고 있는 여러 환경재앙이 그 무엇보다도 심각한 문제라는 것을 밝힌다. 그리고 그러한 문제들을 해결하기 위한 몇 가지 시도들에 대해서 검토한다. 그런데 사람들은 환경이 문제라고 하면 당장 겉으로 드러난 가시적 결과로서의 오염되거나 파괴되어 잘못된 환경에 집중하게 되고 주로 과학기술이 그런 문제를 해결해 주리라고 기대하는 경향이 강한 거 같다. 말하자면 많은 이들은 환경문제를 해결하기 위해 그 근원을 찾아 들어가기보다는 임시방편적인 대증요법을 선호하는 것으로 보인다. 하지만 환경문제라고 하면 사실 환경이 문제가 되거나 잘못된 것이라기보다는 근원적으로 인간이 혹은 인간의 의식이 문제가 되거나 잘못된 걸로 보인다. 그래서 어쩌면 ‘환경문제’니 ‘환경오염’이니 하는 것은 ‘인간 문제’나 ‘인간 의식의 오염’ 문제라고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 그렇다면 환경문제를 근원적이고 효과적으로 해결하기 위해서는 인간의 마음가짐이나 태도 및 행동에 대해 깊이 있고 폭넓게 성찰하는 철학적이고 윤리적인 작업이 무엇보다도 요구되는 것이다. 그래서 이 글에서는 끝으로 환경문제에 대한 철학적이고 윤리적인 접근의 필요성과 중요성 그리고 의미 및 한계에 대해 비판적으로 검토한다.
Abstract
In this paper, first, I reveal that environmental disasters becoming a routine are more serious than anything else. And I review some attempts to solve such problems. but when we solve the environmental problems, we focus on visible results that are exposed to the surface, and we seem to be more inclined to solve them through science and technology. In other words, many people seem to prefer temporizing symptomatic therapy rather than finding a fundamental solution to solve environmental problems. But when we say that it is an environmental problem, it seems that human or human consciousness is a problems rather than an environment. so perhaps it is not too much to say that ‘environmental pollution’ or ‘environmental problem’ is actually ‘contamination of human consciousness’ or ‘human problem’. If so, philosophical and ethical work that reflects deeply and widely on human mindset, attitude and behavior is more required than anything else in order to fundamentally and effectively solve environmental probles. So, ini conclusion, I critically review the necessity, importance, meaning and limitations of philosophical and ethical approach to the environmental problems.
