오늘날 우리가 직면하고 있는 생태학적 환경위기는 우리 인간의 위기라고 할 수 있으며, 특히 환경문제로 인한 생명파괴의 결과는 환경에 대한 가치관과 윤리의식의 결여에 근본적인 원인이 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 위기는 단순한 체제와 구조의 위기로 보는 것이 아니라 보다 근원적으로 이를 떠받치고 있는 인간 내면의 가치관과 세계관의 문제라는 점에서 생태학적 각성이 요구되며, 무엇보다도 생태학적 환경위기 극복을 위해서는 인간중심적 패러다임에서 생태중심적 패러다임으로의 이동을 통해 현재의 철학적 관점을 근본적으로 바꾸어야 한다. 이러한 관점의 변화는 지금까지 유지된 인간과 자연과의 관계를 근본적으로 변화시킬 철학적 작업을 필요로 하는데, 이러한 철학적 작업은 환경윤리를 통한 윤리가치에 의한 방법으로 이루어져야 한다. 특히 최근 우리의 관심을 끌고 있는 생태학적 관점은 이러한 인식의 변화를 유도하는 관점으로 근대의 도덕적 질병을 치유하는 중요한 패러다임으로 자리 매김하고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때, 우리 앞에 닥친 생태학적 환경위기를 극복하기 위해서는 가치관의 변화, 새로운 세계관, 본질에 있어서 새로운 생태중심주의 환경윤리를 바탕으로 윤리가치에 의한 교육적 방법, 즉 환경윤리교육을 통해 보다 근원적인 해결책을 모색해야 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the directions of a new ecological paradigm and to present the philosophical alternatives for overcoming ecological environmental crisis. For these, we would research the philosophical significance and approach patterns of environmental ethics, and would discuss the ecocentrism environmental ethics as a new ecological paradigm. According to deep ecologists, they assert the necessity of basic reorientation of crucial components of present political, economic and social orders to overcome ecological crisis today. This means the movement from the mechanistic world view to the ecological world view and the shift from Dominant Social Paradigm(DSP) to New Ecological Paradigm(NEP). These days, to overcome an ecological crisis we face with, we should uprightly set the relationship between human being and nature. Recently, new ecological paradigms need philosophical works to change radically the relationship between human being and nature. This philosophical work must be carried out by means of ethical value judgment through ‘environmental ethics’. Environmental ethics is a discipline which explores ethical value judgments about nature. It expands and changes our viewpoint and understanding of environmental problems. Most of all, to overcome ecological environmental crisis, we should convert from anthropocentic world view to ecocentric world view based on ecocentrism. This shift toward ecocentrism environmental ethics as a new ecological paradigm supplies the most intrinsic problem to explore directions and the important educational implications to present the philosophical alternatives for overcoming ecological environmental crisis.
