Word Frequency Dictionaries play an important role both in linguistics and in humanities, such as historical studies, language teachings, and psychology. And then this paper aims at describing basic issues for the compilation of a frequency dictionary of contemporary Korean. In Chapter II, I describe the parts of the entry of frequency dictionaries and frequency lists and the importances of them. In Chapter III, I then present uses of these informations in linguistics and in humanities. In Chapter IV I discuss the process of compilation of a frequency dictionary, such as the construction of corpus, lemma selection method, and the construction of microstructure.
