초록
The purpose of the study is to trace the humanistic approach to Linguistics in the past and to evaluate its value by reviewing the history of linguistics. The motivation of the study is to prove that the concept of Humanistic Linguistics is not invented in 21 st century but that it was rediscovered after it had been sealed for a while. This study presupposes two propositions. First, Humanistic linguistics is not brand-new in the history of linguistics. In other words, it had occupied mainstream of Linguistic field for a long time. Secondly, it was excluded from the mainstream of linguistics. The most intriguing point is why humanistic linguistics seems to be a absurd word or concept in modern Linguistics. We proposed two types of Humanistic Linguistics: Narrow and Wide scope. Narrow view of Humanistic Linguistics includes discourse linguistics and corpus linguistics and so on. Wide view of Humanistic Linguistics denotes a disciplinary work between Linguistics and other disciplines.
