Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze teachers’ experiences in early childhood safety education through qualitative meta-analysis. Nine qualitative thesis were identified through searches using keywords such as infant safety education, early childhood safety education, and school safety education. The Noblit and Hare’s (1988) seven-step procedure was used for analysis, which revealed five key domains. Teachers reported limited expertise, including insufficient professional knowledge and teaching methods, and emphasized the need for practice-oriented training. They also identified a lack of age-appropriate educational materials and experiential resources, highlighting the necessity of developing teaching materials aligned with children’s developmental characteristics. In terms of institutional support, teachers experienced difficulties with top-down policies and restricted autonomy, expressing a need for context-sensitive support. Concerns regarding applicability in practice emerged from gaps between curricula and real-life situations, indicating the importance of practically appropriate programs. Finally, issues of social awareness included insufficient professional recognition and the transfer of responsibility, underscoring the need for broader societal acknowledgment and shared responsibility for safety education. This study contributes to the effective implementation of early childhood safety education and offers important implications for enhancing teacher competency.
