Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effects of psychological stress factors on parenting behaviors among mothers and fathers with infants. To this end, the baseline data and first-year data were collected from the Korean Early Childhood Education and Care Panel Study (K-ECEC panel study) from 2021 onwards. A stepwise regression analysis was conducted by dividing the participants into two groups based on parental gender. The results were as follows. Parenting stress was the most significant factor influencing parenting behavior for both mothers and fathers, while marital satisfaction also exerted some influence. Furthermore, psychological factors affected parenting behavior differently depending on the gender of the parent after the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings show the need for customized parenting education and psychological support that considers gender characteristics. In particular, this study utilized national survey data reflecting changes in family structure and childcare environments following the pandemic, explored trends in early parenting environments and potential risk factors, and provided foundational data for future longitudinal studies.
