4차 산업혁명’과 NBIC 기술융합 시대의 인문학적 차원 연구

초록

본 글은 한국 사회뿐만 아니라 전 지구적으로 논의되고 있는 ‘4차 산업혁명’(4IR로 약칭함) 현상에 관한 인문학적 성찰의 한 시도이다. 이른바 ‘4차 산업혁명’이란 용어는 2016년 초 스위스 다보스 포럼에서 언급됨과 동시에 전 세계적으로 빠르게 확산하고 있다. 4IR은 과학 산업 기술 분야 뿐만 아니라 사회의 주요 핵심 분야(노동⦁생명⦁인지⦁교육 등)에 근본적인 변화를 몰고 올 전망이다. 디지털 기술을 기반으로 하는 과학기술혁명의 핵심은 물리적인 세계-디지털 세계-생물적 세계가 초연결됨으로서 인간을 둘러싼 환경이 빠르게 변화하는 현상이고, 다른 한편 NBIC(Nanotech- Biogénétique-informatique-Cognitivisme)으로 명명되는 신기술들이 융합함으로써 인간의 본질을 근본적으로 바꾸는 사태를 말한다. 과학기술의 발전으로부터 시작된 사회전반의 심층적인 변화는 인간과 삶, 휴머니티(l’humanité)의 형이상학적⦁윤리적⦁미학적 국면에 대한 인문학적 성찰을 요구하고 있다.

Abstract

Our study will be focused upon what is happening in a revolutionary way over the technological and industrial areas. By the early 2016, Davos International Forum took place with the subject matter ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ from which Klauss Schwab borrowed the title of his internationally well-known work. Although this naming has been largely controversial among many experts and scholars, we can’t easily deny what is deeply under way over almost all social areas: this profound change is believed to be driven by the rapidly growing digital technology capabilities. The goal of these radical technological changes is to intergrate the physical and the human into the digital world being realized due to hyper-connected network. In 2002, American Scientific Foundation issued the highly meaningful work heralding the converging of NBIC technologies(Nano technology, Bio-genetic engineering, Information technology, Cognitivism) enabling the humanity itself to undergo a profound transformation by enhancement and augmentation in human capabilities.
