최근 현대 도시는 생활 주체인 인간, 주거 환경인 도시가 함께 어우러져야 함에도 불구하고, 획일적인 서구의 자본주의적 공간으로 설계되는 문제점을 내포하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 서구의 유토피아를 모방하는 인천 송도 신도시를 중심으로 인간학적인 관점에서 살펴본다. 미셸 푸코의 ‘헤테로토피아’ 이론을 적용하여 송도 도시의 공간적 특징을 조명하고자 하였다. 근대 산업화 이후 송도 도시 공간은 서구의 유토피아를 모방 하였지만 실제로 존재하는 유토피아일 수 없다. 뉴욕 센트럴 파크를 모방한 송도 중앙공원 주변 에는 고급 브랜드 아파트가 단지를 이루고 있으며 자본권력과 상징권력이 작동되어 서민들에게는 진입장벽이 높아 이웃 주민들 간의 소통이 어려운 ‘단절의 헤테로토피아’를 띄고 있다. 인천 구도심은 지역의 양극화와 경제적 빈곤이 증가하면서 가난하고 고독한 죽음의 지역으로 내몰리고 있다. 이러한 논지를 바탕으로 문명사적으로 중요한 근대 도시 사상가들의 상상력을 통한 유토피아 상상력을 기술한다. 또한, 송도 도시 탄생의 배경을 소개하고 도시 개발의 이면성을 파악한다. 이러한 논의를 통해 송도 도시의 기능성, 효율성 중심의 한계를 넘어서 권력의 긴장관계를 주목한다.
Abstract
The modern city has recently posed a problem that is designed as a uniform Western capitalist space, even though the city has to be harmonized with the humans and a pleasant residential environment. The purpose of this study is to explore the ergonomic perspective of the new city of Incheon Songdo City, which mimics Western Utopia. It applied Michel Foucault's " Heterotopia " theory to illuminate the spatial characteristics of the city of Songdo. After modern industrialization, the city's space mimics Western Utopia, but it dose not exist. High-end luxury brand apartments surround Songdo Central Park, making it difficult for low-income people to communicate with neighboring residents because of the high barriers to entry. As the regional polarization of the Incheon increase, it is being driven into a region of poverty and desolate deaths. Based on these arguments, we describe utopian imagination through the discourse of the modern city, who are of great historical significance. It also introduces the background to the creation of Songdo City and identifies the other side of urban development. Through these discussions, we notice the strained relations of the power that goes beyond the limits of the city's functional and efficiency.
