1950년대 문학비평의 세계주의와 미국적 가치 지향의 상관성- 김동리의 세계문학 논의를 중심으로

Abstract

The theory of world-oriented literature which were the theme of literary criticism of the 1950's, have been criticized for excluding Korea's concrete reality and specific situation. If we viewed the situation of the anti-communism and needs to establish a single government under a democratic regime as the particular circumstances of the times, the Kim's literary criticism of the 1950's would take on a new meaning. The reason for discussing the cosmopolitanism with the U. S. in the center, under the context of national literature, emphasizes that we should join the globalizing strategy of the U. S. who builds up the oder of cold-war liberalism. Therefore, the world-oriented national literature, in the Kim's literary criticism of the 1950's, can be seen that underlies the nationalism in consideration of the Korea's circumstances. Kim's those literary criticisms, which have such key words as human, individual, freedom, etc. are said to retrieving life supremacy, freedom of personality, dignity of man, and rebellion for their good. These are ultimately connected to the contents of the American liberal democracy which the U. S. propagated, enlightened, and disseminated in the post-Liberation era in order to infiltrate into the life of Koreans. As a result, Kim's world-oriented national literature of the 1950's turns out to have been formed in the direction of conforming or affirming the national constitution of establishing a sole government of the South Korea, based on the ideology of American liberal democracy with the exclusive targets. It faithfully abides by the strategy of the U. S. that it should permeate into the life without revealing political intentions.
