L2 한국어 학습자의 언어 산출을 통해 본 관계절 사용 양상

본 연구는 한국어 학습자들의 모어에 따른 한국어 관계절(관계 관형사절)의 습득 양상의 차이와 한국어 관계절에서의 Keenan & Comrie(1977)의 관계절 위계의 성립 여부를 살펴보았다. 중급 수준의 영어 모어 학습자 26명, 일본어 모어 학습자 41명, 중국어 모어 학습자 45명을 대상으로 구어 및 문어 산출 실험을 실시, 전사하였고, 관계절만을 따로 추출하여 주격, 직접목적격, 사격보어 등 각각의 관계절의 격을 판단한 후 분류하여, 각 격에 대해 모어 집단별 산출자 비율, 산출 횟수 평균, 어절 수 평균 등을 분석하여, 모어별 집단 간 비교 및 격별(위계별) 비교를 실시하였다. 결과적으로 학습자의 모어에 관계없이 모든 모어 집단에서 전반적으로 주격, 사격 보어, 직접목적격의 일정한 순으로 나타난 것을 통해 관계절 습득에서 모어와 개인차를 넘어선 보편적 측면이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 산출빈도 측면에서 관계절 후치인 영어 모어 학습자가 높은 능력을 나타내었고 평균 어절 수는 한국어 관계절과 위치 및 구조가 가장 가까운 일본어 모어 학습자가 높은 능력을 나타내었는데, 모어 집단 간 다른 사용 양상을 보이는 것을 통해 관계절 습득에서 모어의 영향 등 상대적인 측면도 있음을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study is to examine noun phrase accessibility hierarchy(NPAH) of relative clauses(RC) in L2 Korean and compare aspects of relative clauses in Korean L2 learners’ production. The experiment was conducted with 26 Korean learners speaking English, 41 Japanese and 45 Chinese who were in intermediate level. Written and spoken data were collected after watching 10 minutes of short nonverbal movies. Relative clauses in the written and spoken data were classified to SU(Subjective), DO(Direct Object) and OBL(Oblique) relative clauses and compared by groups divided by first language of learners, measuring average number of SU, DO and OBL relative clauses and average number of syntactic words in a relative clauses. As results, regardless of learner's first language, all groups showed same order in productive ability for relative clauses in Korean as SU, OBL and DO. So there still seems to be some universal aspects in acquisition of relative clauses in Korean, even though it doesn't match with NPAH. English-speaking Korean learners showed higher frequency in production whereas Japanese-speaking Korean learners showed high ability in average number of syntactic words in a relative clause. These results made us presume some relative aspects in acquisition of L2 Korean relative clauses by learners’ first languages and individual factors.
