21세기 현대시의 화자 유형에 관한 사례 분석 연구

시적 화자persona는 시 연구는 물론 시의 이해와 감상에서 주요한 시학적 장치device로 떠오른 것은 20세기였다. 본고는 21세기 한국 현대시에서도 여전히 유용한 화자의 특성에 주목하여 새로운 시적 기능과 그 가능성을 모색해보고자 했다. 이를 위해 기존의 화자 유형 분류 체계와 그 특성들을 검토한 후, 21세기 현대시에 적합한 화자 유형 분류의 최소 기준을설정해보았다. 최소화된 기준은 유형화할 수 없는 대상을 유형화하려는어려움을 반영한 것으로, ‘어떤 시점에서 발화하는가’(화자의 시점 ; 인칭과 위치)와 ‘어떤 목소리로 발화하는가’(화자의 목소리)로 나누어 살폈다. 일인칭 고백 장르라는 서정시의 특성을 고려해 인칭으로는 일인칭과 비인칭을, 위치로는 관찰적 위치와 전지적 위치를 제시하였다. 그리고 화자지향적/청자지향적/등장인물지향적/화제지향적, 묘사적/진술적, 이미지적/서사적 등으로 목소리의 기준을 설정했다. 이러한 시점(인칭과 위치)과목소리 등이 조합하는 경우의 수에 따라 화자 유형은 개별 작품별로 다양하게 생성된다. 이 최소화된 유형화의 기준이 오히려 최근 시의 다양한 화자 유형을 분류하고 분석하는 데 더욱 효율적이었으며, 이를 통해 21세기시의 화자가 시 속에서 어떤 기능을 하고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 결과적으로 화자 선택의 발상과 효과를 중심으로 한 분류의 기준만을 제시함으로써 현대시 화자의 새로운 시학적 가능성을 열어두고자 하였다.
Abstract
In the understanding and appreciation of poetry as well as the study on poetry it was 20th century when the poetic persona had emerged as a major device of poetics. This paper has explored the new poetic functions and their possibilities by focusing the characteristics of personae that are useful to study on the Korean modern poetry in 21th century too. For this exploring,this paper has examined the existing system of classifications of the persona-types and their characteristics, and has therefore tried to establish the minimized criteria of classifications of the persona-types proper for the modern poetry in 21th century. With respect to the fact that the minimized criteria have reflected the difficulties to give figurations to objects which have been unable to give themselves, this paper has examined the minimized criteria by dividing them into the one as ‘what viewpoint does the persona speak at’(the viewpoint of persona: the person and the position)and the other as ‘what voice does the persona speak with’(the voice of persona). With considering a characteristic of the lyric poetry as a first-person confessionary genre, this paper has presented the persons as the first-person and the non-person, the positions as the observing position and the omniscient position, and has established the criteria of voices as beings oriented toward speakers, listeners, characters, or topics, as descriptions and statements, and as images and narrations. According to the number of cases with which these viewpoints(the persons and the positions) and voices have been combined, the persona-types have become differently at each poem. Through these minimized criteria of figurations which have rather been more effectively used to classify and analyze the different persona-types in the latest poems, this paper has illuminated the functions of personae within poetry in 21th century. Consequently this paper has tried to open the new poetic possibilities of personae in the modern poetry by presenting only the criteria of classifications with the ideas and effects of choosing personae in the center.
