이 연구는 현대시 ‘화자’에 관한 시학적 논의들을 소개하고 이를 통해 현대시 화자 교육의 방향을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 화자를 시인과 동일하게 이해하는 전통적인 관점은 시 텍스트의 심미성과 자율성 앞에서 폐기되었고, 시 텍스트에 드러나는 목소리들의 진원이자 실체로서 시인과 분리된 허구적 화자가 출현하게 되었다. 허구적 화자를 통해 상상적이고 탈주체적인 체험이 가능해지고 이를 통해 다양한 독자들과 소통하고 정서를 공유할 수 있다는 점에서 허구적 화자의 정립은 필연적이라고 할 수 있다. 한편 오늘날 하나의 시 텍스트 내부에 다층적인 목소리를 가진 현대시가 지속적으로 출현하고 있으며, 이는 다시 단일한 목소리의 허구적 화자만으로는 해명하기 힘든 문제를 노출시켰다. 이는 시 텍스트 내부에 존재하는 분열되고 증식되는 목소리를 가진 화자의 탄생을 예비했다. 새로운 화자의 등장과 더불어 화자에 관한 이론도 함께 수정되고 있다. 시학의 구성 요소들은 규범적이라기보다는 기술적(記述的)일 때 비로소 ‘지금, 이곳’의 문학과 함께 갱신될 수 있다는 점에서 화자와 시점, 어조에 관한 논의를 지속적으로 재점화할 필요가 있다. 나아가 문학공간에서의 이러한 논의들이 교육공간으로 전이될 필요가 있다. 그간의 화자 교육은 화자 개념이 부재한 가운데 단일한 목소리를 가진 화자를 내세운 시 텍스트들을 주로 활용함으로써 문학과 독자의 동시대성을 충분히 반영하지 못한 문제점을 갖고 있었다. 시 텍스트의 온전한 수용과 생산을 위해서는 허구적 화자의 존재를 정립하고 단일한 주체적 목소리뿐 아니라 타자적 목소리들이 혼재한 ‘지금, 이곳’의 시 텍스트들을 상호텍스트적으로 활용할 수 있어야 한다. 이를 통해 학습자의 문학 경험이 문학 능력으로 온전히 전이되어 미래 성인 독자의 능동적인 문학 활동을 견인할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to introduce poetic discussions on ‘speakers’ in modern poetry and explore the direction for education on speakers in modern poetry through that. The traditional view of understanding speakers as the poets was discarded before the aesthetics and autonomy of poetic text, and a fictional speaker separated from the poet appeared as the origin and substance of voices revealed in poetic text. It can be said that it is inevitable to establish a fictional speaker because it is possible to have imaginative and post-subjective experience through the fictional speaker and communicate and share emotions with various readers based on that. Meanwhile, today, in modern poetry, a single poetic text with multilayered voices inside continues to appear, exposing a problem that it is difficult to explain it only with the fictional speaker of a single voice. This led to the birth of a speaker with a divided and multiplying voice that exists inside the poetic text. With the emergence of that new speaker, the theory of speakers is also being modified. It is necessary to reignite the discussion of the speaker, viewpoint, and tone continuously in that the components of poetics can be renewed with the literature of ‘here, now’ only when it is descriptive rather than normative. Furthermore, these discussions in the space of literature need to be transferred to that of education. Until now, education on speakers had the problem of not reflecting the contemporaneity of literature and readers sufficiently as it used poetic texts putting forth the speaker with a single voice while the concept of speakers was missing. For the complete acceptance and production of poetic texts, it is needed to establish the existence of a fictional speaker and intertextually utilize the poetry texts of ‘here, now’ which contain not just a single subjective voice but also other voices that are present complexly. Through this, it will be possible to allow learners’ literary experience to be transferred to literary skills soundly and lead future adult readers’ active literary activities.
