도덕과 수업은 도덕적 인간의 형성을 목적으로 특별히 마련된 이야기의 장이다. 도덕적 인간이 현실 속에서 도덕적 이상향을 추구하는 인간을 의미한다고 보았을 때, 도덕과 수업에 요청되는 이야기는 학생으로 하여금 현실의 이면에 들어있는 도덕적 이상향의 의미를 이해하고, 그에 비추어 자신의 내면을 돌아보도록 하는 이야기라 말할 수 있다. 내러티브 접근에서 강조하는 일상적 대화는 말이 지니는 특성상 학생의 관심을 현실에의 필요 충족에 머무르도록 한다는 점에서 도덕과 수업의 본질을 실현하는 이야기로서 한계를 지닌다. 반면, 내러티브 접근에서 비판하는 윤리학적 개념을 담은 텍스트는 글이 지니는 특성상 현실을 반영하지 못한 채 응고되어 그 의미가 왜곡되는 죽은 이야기가 될 위험성을 지닌다. 결국 도덕과 수업의 본질을 실현하기 위해서는 현실의 삶을 반영하는 일상적 대화와 도덕적 삶의 의미를 숙고하며 내면을 되돌아보도록 하는 텍스트 사이의 상호작용이 필연적으로 요청된다. 교사의 이야기는 이러한 상호작용을 가능하게 하는 특별한 이야기이며, 바로 이 점에서 도덕과 수업의 본질을 실현하기 위한 필수 조건이 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to reveal what narrative can realize the nature of moral subject education in the light of orality and literacy. The nature of moral subject education is making a child to be a moral man. A moral man lives in current society, but he is not a man who satisfies needs of current society. He is a man who seeks to understand moral ideal and lives it in his whole life. In the light of the characteristic of a spoken dialogue and a written text, both of a spoken dialogue about daily life and a written text about moral concepts have some possibilities and limits in realizing the nature of moral subject education. So, it needs a teacher's specific role to awake both narratives' potential possibilities and realize the nature of moral subject education. A teacher has to take interactions between a dialogue about daily life and a text about moral concepts through his specific storytelling.
