절대적 계몽, 혹은 무위의 인간: 아감벤 정치철학의 현재성

이 논문은 이탈리아의 철학자 조르조 아감벤(Giorgio Agamben)의 정치철학을 근대의 정치적 기획에 대한 근본적 비판으로 독해함으로써 그 함의를 가늠하고자 하는 것이다. 국내에서 이뤄진 기존 논의는 아감벤의 정치철학이 현대세계를 매우 비관적이고 움울한 상황으로 묘사하면서도 그로부터 벗어날 대안을 제시할 때에는 묵시록적이고 모호한 이미지로 일관한다는 평가가 지배적이다. 그러나 이는 현실과 사유, 목적과 수단이라는 전제 위에서 내려진 판단이며, 아감벤의 정치철학이 그런 전제에 대한 근본적 비판을 제기한다는 점에서 재고되어야 한다. 이 논문에서는 이를 위해 아감벤의 정치철학을 목적론과 집합론 비판이라는 관점에서 재해석함으로써 근대의 정치적 기획이 역사의 종말과 국가의 종말이라는 시대 상황 속에서 근본적으로 변경되어야 함을 주장했다. 이에 대한 아감벤의 대안은 예외상태론에 기반한 ‘장치’론 속에서 드러나며, 이는 푸코에 의한 칸트의 비판-계몽 프로젝트의 재해석과 맞닿아 있는 기획으로 재독해될 수 있다. 그것은 인간의 고유한 정치적이고 존재론적인 성격을 ‘무위’로 해석하는 절대적 계몽의 기획으로, 아감벤의 정치철학은 이런 맥락에서 재검토되어야 함을 이 논문에서 주장했다.
Abstract
This article aims to reconsider Giorgio Agamben's political philosophy. In Korea his thoughts has been read as describing the situation of contemporary world as an apocalyptic vision and not having any positive alternative. However, his argument should be regarded as an primordial critic to modern political thoughts or projects that have aimed to accomplish the telos of history in Hegelian sense. Agamben criticized the political projects by reconsidering Hegelian historical philosophy(logic of telos) and the logics of class theory(logic of political identity). In this context, he reinterpreted Foucaul's main concept ‘dispositif’ to present alternative political vision as ‘the will not to be governed in this way’ which was the core of Kant's project of enlitenment and critique. Agamben's political philosophy have to be reconsidered in this light, which could make us to name his projects ‘the absolute enlightenment’ that is based on a definition of man as ‘being without no function.’
