이 연구의 목적은 경찰순찰활동의 핵심요소들 중에서 어떤 요소가 시민만족도에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고, 분석결과에 기초하여 경찰순찰활동의 시민만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안들을 제안하는 것이다. 이 연구의 조사대상자는 대전광역시에 거주하는 시민 145명을 대상으로 하였고, 독립변수로는 순찰경찰관의 친절성, 순찰의 신속성과 가시성, 차별적 대응, 순찰력의 규모, 순찰경찰관과의 접촉, 순찰경찰관에 대한 신뢰의 6개 변수가 선정되었고, 종속변수는 시민만족도이다. 회귀분석의 결과, 유의수준 0.05에서 종속변수인 시민만족도에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 독립변수는 순찰경찰관의 친절성과 순찰력의 규모 2개인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 이 연구의 결과로서 경찰순찰활동의 시민만족도를 향상시키기 위해서는, 순찰경찰관의 친절성을 증진시키고, 순찰력의 규모를 확대할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of police patrolto citizens satisfaction, and to suggest the methods for improvingcitizens satisfaction. This study conducts the survey on 145 citizens. By factor analysis, the kindness of patrolmen, the speed and visibilityof patrol, differential response, the size of patrol force, contact withpatrolmen, and trust in patrolmen are grouped as the dependentvariables. And the independent variable is citizen satisfaction. The results of this study reveal that citizens satisfaction is affectedstatistically by the kindness of patrolmen and the size of patrol force. Therefore, police department must make the effort for increasing thekindness of patrolmen and enlarge the size of patrol force. To increase the kindness of patrolmen, police department must assessthe applicants’ kindness thoroughly, involve the kindness of patrolmen atperformance appraisal, activate the foot patrol, and facilitate the jointpatrol of policemen and citizens. In addition, to enlarge the size of patrol force, police department mustincrease the police personnel, promote the strategic patrol activities, andcombine one-person patrol with two-person patrol.
