본 연구는 최근 추진되고 있는 해운동맹의 주요 현황과 특징을 검토해서 향후 글로벌 해운동맹의 확산에 대해 우리나라 해운선사가 어떠한 대응책을 가져야 되는지 알아보기 위해 연구되었다. 분석 결과로 첫째, 아시아-유럽 항로에는 유럽계 해운선사의 시장지배력이 상당해 우리나라는 아시아-미주 항로에 집중해야 한다. 왜냐하면 미국은 미국 항만의 수심과 흘수, 파나마 운하 통과 여부 등 기존 항만 인프라 문제 때문에 초대형 선박의 투입이 쉽지 않아 우리나라 선사가 참여할 여지가 있기 때문이다. 둘째, 외국 현지에 전용컨테이너 터미널을 확보하고 있으면 다른 해운선사에 비해 그만큼 신속한 하역 작업을 보장받을 수 있기 때문에 향후 해운동맹 체결시 이 부분을 반드시 확인해야 한다. 셋째, 아시아-유럽 항로나 아시아-미주 항로뿐만 아니라 한-동남아 항로, 한-일 및 한-중 항로에 참여하는 우리나라 해운선사들이 다른 나라의 선사들과 선박공유협정과 슬롯용선을 지속적으로 체결해야 한다.
Abstract
The aim of this article is to ascertain the implications of changes in liner alliance. Most of all, In this article, I am going to begin by reviewing the previous literature and studies related to the liner shipping business and liner alliances. Next, I will focus on the historical changes in the liner business and the recent trends of massive and powerful collaborations and liner alliances. Finally, I would like to present some concluding insights for the decision makers at liner shipping companies to help them in determining their own strategies for the future liner shipping market. The result as follows. The first, Because of the strength of EU’s shipping companies on the route of European-Far east such as Maersk, MSC, CMA-CGM, Hapag-Lloyd through the fast growth of Very Large Container Ships, South Korea’s shipping companies more concentrate on the transpacific trade route than Europe-Far East and transatlantic trade routes.. The second, because shipping companies have been involved in container terminal operations for the sack of controlling their business, South Korea’s shipping companies should confirm whether current and future members of the liner alliance have their own container terminal.
