Abstract
This study aims to analyze the potential changes in the liner shipping industry that could result from the scheduled abolition of the Consortia Block Exemption Regulation (CBER) in 2024. By comprehensively analyzing the market share of shipping alliances across major routes, the study explores the market adjustments and strategic responses of shipping companies anticipated post-CBER abolition. Findings indicate that shipping alliances currently exceed the market share thresholds set by CBER. Post-abolition, it is projected that strategies to restrict market share to 30% and adjust vessel capacity will be adopted. Additionally, it is expected that liner companies will transition from simple transport services to integrated multimodal services, strengthening market competitiveness through the establishment of value-centered customer relationships. This study provides stakeholders in the maritime industry with various scenarios that may arise from the revocation of CBER, offering valuable insights for future strategic decisions.
