Abstract
This study empirically examined whether the gender differences exist in the relationships among developmental network characteristics, developmental functions, and career identity. For this it analyzed data of employees in the mid or large size corporates, applying multi-group confirmatory factor analysis and multi-group path analysis. The results of analysis were as follows. First, it showed that men had the higher level of network size but women had the higher level of career support and psycho-social support. However, it is likely that the average differences were regardless of the relationships between developmental network characteristics and developmental functions. Second, the structure that psycho-social support mediates positively the relationship between tie strength and career identity was common in male and female groups. Third, while tie strength, in women group, affected positively on career identity, only through psycho-social support, tie strength did so through career support as well as psycho-social support, in men group. Furthermore, men were beneficial from the relationship between developers’ position and career identity, with a mediator of psycho-social support.
