Abstract
This thesis shows the effectiveness of Korean native speakers learning of Japanese by studying Korean transcription of Tokusyu-on-so(e.g. ‘Soku-on’(促音), ‘Hatsu-on’(撥音), ‘Cho-on’(長音) in SHŌKAI-SINGO . Japanese ‘Soku-on’(促音)「つ」/Q/ could be transcribed into a Korean consonant, ㄷ(t), but Korean the orthographic system does not allow the inscription of a single consonant. In addition, the corresponding Korean of Japanese ‘Hatsu-on’ (撥音)「ん」/ɴ/ could be expected to be transcribed into Korean consonantsㄴ(n), ㅁ(m), ㅇ(ŋ) influenced by following sounds; however, it is also impossible to inscribed this in the Korean orthographic system. Hence, it is common for ㄷ(t), corresponding to Japanese ‘Soku-on’ 「つ」/Q/, and Korean consonants ㄴ(n), ㅁ(m), ㅇ(ŋ), corresponding to Japanese ‘Hatsu-on’ ん」/ɴ/, to be transcribed in a syllable by attaching them to the preceding syllable in light of the Korean letter system. Japanese ‘Cho-on’ (長音),「~う」」and「~お」correspond with Korean ~우」(’u),「~오」(’o) as a pattern. SHŌKAI-SINGO , a Japanese study book for Korean native speakers, helps learners distinguish the concept of the "rhythms of Tokusyuon- so." Hence, SHŌKAI-SINGO connects Japanese sounds with Korean sounds based on a normative and consistent approach to acquire the actual phenomenon of Japanese rhythm.
