Abstract
This paper examined the Korean equivalent of "te simau." The Japanese-Korean correspondences for "te simau" are classified as "eo borida," "go malda," or "no correspondence," with "no correspondence" having the highest translation accuracy. To determine what conditions contribute to the low translation accuracy of "eo borida" and "go malda," we examined the Japanese-Korean correspondences based on three factors: The three factors we considered were the verb that connects before the auxiliary verb, the context, and the sentence form. As a result, all but "no correspondence" were determined to be usable or unusable based on these three factors. Both "eo borida" and "go malda" commonly appear in negative sentences when preceded by a psychological verb, but they rarely appear in affirmative contexts. While "eo borida" is somewhat restricted in sentence form, "go malda" is rarely used in sentences that affect the other person or in conditional sentences. But in Korean, "disappear" and "forget" are rarely used alone and are often paired with "eo borida."
