習得レベル別に見る韓国人日本語学習者のＥメールにおける断りのストラテジー −日本語母語話者との比較を通して−

Abstract

This study clarifies what kind of refusal strategies Japanese language learners of beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and Japanese native speakers use to express their intentions of refusal in emails. The purpose of this study is to explore some of the characteristics of the intermediate language of Japanese learners through cross-group analysis of what kind of refusal strategies are used according to their mother tongue and proficiency level. The results are as follows. Speaking acts of refusal develop at each learning level, especially at the beginner level, "suggestion." At the intermediate level, "apology," "positive feelings toward the teacher," "suggestion," and "sympathetic speech" are expressed while influenced by mother culture. But when the learners reach the advanced level, the usage pattern becomes close to that of Japanese native speakers, except for "refusal utterances," suggesting that the influence of the mother culture may disappear.
