여행지리 정착을 위한 세 가지 질문과 도전

초록

본 논문은 2015 개정 교육과정 진로선택과목 여행지리의 정착을 위한 조건을 세 가지 질문과 그에 대한 답으로 제시하였다. 첫 번째 질문은 여행지리의 목적이자 존재 이유인 ‘왜?’이다. 여행지리는 다가올 미래 사회를 대비하여, 교육과정에서 제시하는 핵심역량을 기를 수 있는 학습 기회를 제공한다. 또한 심리적으로도 진로를 준비하는학생들에게 유용한 목표 성취를 가능하게 해준다. 두 번째 질문은 여행지리 과목 콘텐츠에 대한 ‘무엇을?’이다. 지리교과 내용은 여행을 체계적으로 잘 조직할 수 있는 학문적 특성을 토대로 하고 있다. 따라서 지리를 통해 더욱 유의미한 여행을 가능하게 할 수 있다. 세 번째 질문은 수업의 방법에 대한 ‘어떻게?’이다. 여행지리는 지리교과 내용을현실 공간에 적용하여 이해하는 성격의 과목이다. 다양한 자료와 색다른 방식의 수업을 진행할 수 있으며, 사회적 이슈에 대한 심층적인 탐구 학습도 가능하다. 제시된 질문들에 대한 답을 통해 여행지리는 지리교육에서 중요한 과목으로 자리 잡을 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

This paper presents three questions and answers to the conditions for the sustainability of the tourism geography subject, which is a career elective subject in the Korean 2015 revised curriculum. The first question is ‘why?’, which is the purpose and reason of existence of the tourism geography. Tourism geography is a subject that prepares for the future society, and provides learning opportunities to develop overall core competencies presented in the curriculum. And it provides useful psychological effects to students preparing for a career path. The second question is ‘What?’ about the contents of the tourism geography subject. The content of geography curriculum has the academic characteristics that can systematically organize tourism. Therefore, more meaningful travel can be made through geography. Tourism geography is a subject to understand geographical knowledge authentically by applying the contents of geography subject to real space. Tourism geography classes can utilize a variety of materials and unique teaching methods. The tourism geography class can utilize a variety of materials and unique methods, and it is also possible to explore and learn about social issues. Answering the questions presented, tourism geography will be an important subject in geography education.
