Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among coach-athlete relationships, motivational climate and competitive rumination in middle and high school martial arts athletes. To achieve this, registered martial arts athletes under the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee in 2024 were selected as the population, and data were collected through a survey from 447 participants. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0, employing descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. Additionally, a multi-group analysis was conducted based on competition performance experience. The results revealed the following findings: First, the coach-athlete relationship had a negative (-) effect on competitive rumination. Second, the coach-athlete relationship negatively (-) influenced the performance climate but positively (+) influenced the mastery climate. Third, competitive rumination positively (+) affected the performance climate while negatively (-) affecting the mastery climate. Fourth, differences were observed in the relationship between the coach-athlete relationship and competitive rumination based on competition performance experience.
