이 글에서 주목하는 것은 1980년대 한국 영화 속 도시 빈민의 재현 양상이다. 특히, 기존 연구들에서 제대로 규명하지 않았던 도시의 풍경과 도시 빈민의 관계를 새롭게 분석하고 의미를 도출해 보고자 한다. 1980년대에 이르러리얼리즘 영화의 출현이 가능해졌고 영화 속에 재현된 도시 빈민은 거리의 산책자로서 근대화의 스펙타클과 거리를 유지하고 비판적 관찰자로 등장한다. 이들은 근대화된 도시 물신성을 가장 잘 드러내는 존재들이자 그것과 비판적 거리를 유지하면서 공동체를 유지하고 연대의 가능성을 모색하는 존재들이기도 했다. 도시의 비판적 산책자로서 이들이 배회하는 도시는 곧 대중이 1980 년대를 인식하는 또다른 방식으로 전유되었으며 이로써 도시 빈민이 보여 주었던 연대의 가능성 또한 민중의 그것으로 전유되는 양상을 보여 주었다. 따라서 1980년대의 리얼리즘 영화들이 추구했던 저항성은 근본적으로 이러한발아하는 연대의 가능성을 모색하는 차원에서 이해되고 분석될 필요가 있다.
Abstract
What I wanted to pay attention to in this article was the re-enactment of the urban poor in Korean films in the 1980s. In particular, it was intended to explore the possibility of solidarity among the urban poor, which had not been properly identified in previous studies. In the 1980s, the emergence of realism films became possible, and the urban poor reproduced in the film appeared as critical observers while maintaining distance from the spectacle of modernization as critical walkers of the city. These were the beings that best revealed the modernized urban fetishism, and they were also the ones who maintained their community and sought the possibility of solidarity while maintaining a critical distance from it. As critical walkers of the city, the city they wandered about was soon appropriated in another way for the public to perceive the 1980s, and thus the possibility of solidarity demonstrated by the urban poor was also appropriated by the public. Therefore, the resistance pursued by the realism films of the 1980s needs to be understood and analyzed fundamentally in terms of seeking the possibility of such a germinating solidarity.
