본고는 현재 미디어와 공연 및 축제 등에서 디아스포라가 <아리랑>의 역사 콘텐츠로 자리매김한 것에 주목한다. 특히 2019년에 제작되어 상영된 후 지금껏 전통문화 채널 국악방송을 통해 재방송되고 있거나 아리랑 아카이브 홈페이지를 통해 보급 중인 이규철의 다큐멘터리 영화 <디아스포라의 노래: 아리랑 로드>를 연구대상으로 삼았다. 전통과 역사의 관계성에 중점을 두어 콘텐츠에서 구성된 디아스포라 아리랑이 누가 노래하는 어떤 <아리랑>인가 질문하며 전통에 역사를 소환하는 함열 방식에 주목하고 이것이 곧 오늘날 디아스포라 아리랑 콘텐츠의 전형적인 제작 방식이 되고 있음을 규명한다. 이처럼 구체적인 사례분석을 통해 고찰한 콘텐츠 구성 방식이 추후 아리랑 콘텐츠를 제작하는 데에 있어 새로운 방향성을 제시하는 데에 참고되기를 바란다.
Abstract
Arirang has become a mechanism for continuously mass-producing traditional contents, and this paper aims to analyze the cultural contents of Arirang, especially those focusing on the diaspora. The diaspora is now seen as a historical and cultural subject of Arirang in the media, memorial performances, and festivals. This paper diagnoses the relationship between tradition and history by analyzing the movie Song of Diaspora: Arirang Road, which was produced and screened in 2019 and has been re-broadcast through Korean traditional music broadcasting or distributed through Arirang Archive. I am particularly interested in the method of summoning historical facts in performing traditions symbolized as Ariang today, and I have discovered that this is ‘an implosion’, a method of calling out traditional Arirang cultural contents. Through this detailed analysis, it is hoped that a new direction can be proposed in producing Arirang cultural content in the future.
