이 논문은 서방세계에 문호를 개방한 19세기 후반이후의 동아시아를 대역사 전환기로 보고 이 시기에 활동한 동아시아 근대 지식인들이 자기의 동아시아를 어떻게 인식했던가 하는 문제를 착안한 것이다. 서설적인 고찰로 역사전환의 과정에 직면해서 사고하고 행동했던 몇몇 지식인의 기록들을 분석해 보았다. 중국의 黃遵憲의 朝鮮策略, 그리고 梁啓超가 식민화한 한국에 대해 쓴 글 몇 편, 다음에 자기 조국이 망하자 중국으로 망명해서 활약했던 한국의 신규식의 기록이 주 텍스트이다. 각기 처한 상황은 다르지만 한반도에 초점이 맞춰진 내용이란 점에서 일치하는 것인데 한반도의 문제는 그 처한 지정학적 위치로 인해서 동아시아의 大局과 곧바로 연계되어 있었다.
Abstract
In this paper, I focus on the cognition of East Asian modern intellects in front of the historic conversion of East Asia which opens door to the West, in the late 19th century. As an introductory inquiry, I analyze the documents of intellects in that time who are active to the conversion of world view. The main texts are Huang Zunxian(黃遵憲)’s Strategy for Choson[朝鮮策略], Liang Qichao(梁啓超)’s poetry and treatise which concern colonized Choson and, the Korean activist in China, Shin Kyusik(申圭植)’s documents. For geopolitical position of Korea, they concentrate on matters of Korea, despite their different situation.
