對宋 외교 활동에 참여한 고려 수군 - 『破閑集』과 『高麗圖經』에 나타나는 사례를 중심으로

Abstract

Goryeo Navy performed various duties in addition to battle. It was confirmed that Goryeo Navy was accompanied by envoy’s maritime journey through Yi Ja-Yeon(李子淵)’s records of envoy’s journey to Chinese Sung Dynasty described in Pahanjip(破閑集, which means a book breaking idle hours; Goryeo book of poetry and tales written by Yi Il-Lo(李仁老)). The Navy was responsible for sailing and the safety of delegation in case of emergency, and secretly collected the information after arriving at the Sung. At that time, the Navy who went there had major duties of sailing and the performance of ceremony. Diplomacy was done at the level of central government and the envoy and entourage were representative of Goryeo after visiting foreign countries. Thus, Goryeo intended to reinforce high-ranking soldiers with professionalism if soldiers were required in the envoy’s journey to the Sung. Consequently, the Navy belonging to the Central Command was mobilized. There were naval forces called Naval Command(海領, Haeryeong) in charge of maritime ceremony under the command of Cheonu Guard(千牛衛) in the Goryeo Central Command. In this respect, the Navy who got involved in diplomatic visit by sea route belonged to the Naval Forces Central Command. Goryeo Navy was mobilized when greeting envoy from the Sung as well as when accompanying Goryeo’s envoy visiting the Sung. The mobilized Navy also belonged to the Naval Command. When the envoy of the Sung visited Goryeo, Goryeo had to pay careful attention to many things in terms of protocol, and the Naval Command in charge of ceremony was suitable for the performance of such a duty. The Navy mobilized to greet the envoy and delegation from the Sung drove a ship carrying government officials greeting them in Goryeo. And it performed ceremonies at the major stopping points such as Koonsando Island, Mado Island and Jayeondo Island during journey with the envoy and delegation after meeting them. Goryeo Navy made contributions to the exchange between Goryeo and the Sung in various ways by implementing many duties when dispatching envoy and delegation to the Sung and performing ceremonies related with the reception when greeting envoy and delegation from the Sung.
