평가는 학생의 교육목표 도달도를 확인하고 학생의 성장과 발달을 지원하기 위한 교육과정의 일환이다. 그러나 오랜 기간 입시 위주의 교육풍토에서 비롯된 학생 서열화를 위한 일제식 평가 관행으로 인해 평가의 본질은 왜곡되어 왔다. 그러나 평가 패러다임의 전환이 필요하다는 인식 하에 평가 관련 정책은 긍정적인 방향으로 더디지만 꾸준히 변화해 왔다. 많은 연구자들이 지적해 왔듯이, 평가의 패러다임은 ‘상대평가에서 절대평가’로, ‘양적 평가에서 질적 평가’로, ‘결과 중심의 평가에서 과정 중심의 평가’로, ‘일제식 평가에서 교사별 평가’로 변화되어야 하며 이러한 평가 혁신은 궁극적으로 학생의 성장과 발달을 지원하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 초등학교에서는 일제식 지필평가의 폐지와 성장 지향 평가가 전면화되어야 하며, 중학교에서는 자유학기제 도입, 고등학교에서는 학교생활기록부 전형 확대를 계기로 과정 중심의 수행평가를 활성화하는 것이 현 단계 평가 혁신의 과제라 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The evaluation is the process of curriculum to certify the student’s place of definition and support the growth of students. But the main object of evaluation has been distorted because of the standardized test oriented from the entrance examination. But the evaluation policy has been changed to the desirable direction steadily. It is necessary to change the paradigm of evaluation ‘from relative evaluation to absolute evaluation’, ‘from quantitative evaluation to qualitative evaluation’, ‘from result-centered evaluation to process-centered evaluation’, ‘from standardized evaluation to non-standardized evaluation’. In elementary school, it is necessary to abolish the standardized test. In middle school it is necessary to use the free semester program in invigorating performance evaluation. In high school it is necessary to use the comprehensive screening system of student files in nvigorating performance evaluation.
