초록
Children can learn phonological rules as well as the orderings of the rule application in the process of language acquisition. Phonological rules are applied in linear order, with each rule operating on the string modified by all the applied rules. The rule ordering can also explain dialects, formal speech and casual speech, in which we can use the rules such as, feeding, bleeding, counter-feeding, counter-bleeding, mutual-bleeding, and self-feeding. It is possible to explain devoicing and vowel length in the final word position by applying reordered rules. We can arrange the orderings not only disjunctively but also conjunctively. Koutsoudas unordered rule hypothesis is based on the innate ability which children have in the process of language acquisition. The unordered rule operates intrinsically. By means of the extrinsical linear ordering we can get a significant generalization and explain the homophones and dialects. Disjunctive and conjunctive orderings are greatly helpful to the linear ordering.
