This study aims to investigate the comprehensibility of Korean secondary school students’ English metaphor expressions. Eighteen middle school English learners and twenty high school English learners participated, and independent t-test analysis was used to analyze the collected data for the study. In addition, test items analysis were conducted to examine which items were more difficult or easier to answer. Results revealed that if the participants have a high level of English proficiency, their ability to comprehend English metaphor expressions was high, and that the age may not be a significant indicator for predicting the comprehensibility of English metaphor expressions. Results also showed that in the case of test items with a high percentage of incorrect answers, the participants are not familiar with English metaphor expression. Directions for future studies and pedagogical suggestions were provided.
