전문상담교사의 학부모상담 경험에 관한 현상학적 질적연구

본 연구는 전문상담교사의 학부모상담 경험을 이해하고 그 본질을 탐구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 현재 전문상담교사로 근무하고 있는 연구 참여자 10명을 대상으로 심층면담과 문서분석을 통해 자료를 수집하였고, Giorgi의 기술적 현상학적 연구 방법으로 자료를 분석하여 일반적 구조분석을 제시하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 총 125개의 의미단위와 46개의 하위 범주, 13개의 범주, 5개의 영역을 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 5개 영역은 다음과 같이 ‘관련 당사자들과의 협력을 통한 학부모상담의 시작’, ‘상담 과정에서의 고충과 적절한 대응 노력’, ‘학부모상담의 필요성을 체감함’, ‘학부모상담의 시작과 상담 전략 모색’, ‘학부모의 반응에 대한 다양한 심리적 경험’으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 통해 전문상담교사의 학부모상담이 협력을 바탕으로 진행됨과 더불어 학부모상담이란 ‘위기상황’에서 ‘일회성’으로 진행된다는 인식이 있음을 발견하였다. 또한, 전문상담교사가 학부모상담을 진행하면서 마주하는 여러 가지 비협조적인 상황과 대처 전략을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 전문상담교사의 학부모상담 경험에 대한 본질적인 구조와 의미를 발굴하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 함의와 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to understand the parent counseling experiences of professional school counselors and to explore their essential meanings. To achieve this purpose, data were collected from ten professional school counselors through in-depth interviews and document analysis. The collected data were analyzed using Giorgi’s descriptive phenomenological method, through which a general structural description was developed. As a result of the analysis, a total of 125 meaning units, 46 subcategories, 13 categories, and five thematic areas were identified. The five areas derived from the data were as follows: the initiation of parent counseling through collaboration with involved parties, difficulties encountered during the counseling process and efforts to manage them, embodied recognition of the necessity of parent counseling, the initiation of counseling and the search for effective strategies, and diverse psychological experiences in response to parents’ reactions. The findings revealed that parent counseling conducted by professional school counselors is grounded in collaboration, while also being perceived as a one-off intervention that mainly occurs in crisis situations. The study further identified various uncooperative circumstances that counselors encounter during parent counseling and the strategies they employ to address them. Through this process, the study uncovered the essential structure and meaning of professional school counselors’ parent counseling experiences. Based on these findings, the study discusses its practical and scholarly implications and presents suggestions for future research.
